About our Practice

The practice is headed by Charles A. Garcia, M.D., an ophthalmologist with an international reputation as a physician and surgeon.   Dr. Garcia is a professor at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and has taught medical students, residents, and post doctoral physicians in specialty training as well as post residency surgical instruction and clinical practice.  Dr. Garcia has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters and three textbooks about retinal diseases.  

 

He has participated in medical research for more than 40 years including landmark studies on diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinitis pigmentosa.  He is a leader in the medical and surgical management of retinal problems.

 

For more than 30 years Dr. Garcia has been a pioneer in the newest device techonology and research and has helped to establish standards by which ophthalmologists world wide use to treat and diagnose patients.  The Retinal Vascular Center established in 1985 has hosted a a training program for pre and post doctoral physicians both on a national and international stage.
